Not saying it is a bad deal just keep in mind the majority of what is left is likely store demo models that have been on all day for nearly 2 years.
They are used.
You might get lucky with an actual customer return but generally at these discount levels BestBuy is shedding the hundreds of demos they need for their 1k+ stores.
Good news is that Microsoft should reset warranty to full if you contact them and explain it is a BestBuy open box.

OK, so here's a coincidence. I bought one of these open-box on Friday and returned it yesterday. I thought that with a discrete 4050 GPU it would be better than my Surface Pro 11 with the Snapdragon X Plus (10-core), it wasn't. On top of that, I installed CrystalDiscInfo and it showed only 62% SSD health, and a power-on time of over 13,700 hours! Obviously, it was the floor model that NEVER got turned off. Anyway, the performance was underwhelming so it went back.

What do you use to benchmark battery?

I just never understood why anyone would buy anything except a startup MacBook Air that now comes with 16GB RAM
Bigger screen or better refresh rate, but the M4 15" at $999 is an amazing deal. We really are living in a golden age of cheap laptops.

Because they don't like Macs, because you get more for your money with Windows vs a Mac. Bc windows pca can be bought for less. Because they don't want a system whose ram and ssd drive is not upgradeable. Most of the world, business and consumer uses windows.

Open a command prompt as administrator and type in "powercfg /batteryreport" (without quotes).

Thanks for the clarifications. I agree with most of the points, except "because you get more for your money with Windows vs a Mac". I bought a $2000+ DELL XPX for my wife that had a battery issue. Instead of replacing battery I just bought her a M4 Pro MacBook Pro 14". She had a strong resistance against MacBook but I told her I am not going to buy another fancy laptop unless it's a Mac. Now she adores her Aluminum slab. It took her probably a week tops to fully switch to MacBook. Of course that's a very expensive MacBook but it was equivalently priced to XPX (both around ~$2K). And if I sell her laptop 5 years later, I will probably still recoup $500+. A windows XPX will be hard to sell for anything after 5 years (that's from my past experience). If we want, we can use that laptop for next 10 years. Even if the battery dies, we can get genuine Apple service.

Please don't get me wrong. I want strong competition. The fact that people are still buying Windows, keeps me happy. Apple at least have some competition. Otherwise the $800 MacBook Air would become $2000.

Probably display models -- these probably have been turned on years ago and never shut off. Good luck.

I'm in this camp. I have a MacBook Pro 4 for work and absolutely hate it. Use a surface as my personal laptop.
