Are you under the impression that alternatives to pork hot dogs are not heavily processed animal parts?
As for deli meats, there's the cheaper stuff and there's the pricier stuff. Both are ground up "meat" that's mounded and injected with salt, preservatives, flavors, etc.

Spam isn't as far away from these things as you might think.

Price is ok, low enough to try this flavor.
600mg sodium is concerning as I tried SPAM Less Sodium 570mg and thought it was too salty.

I liked SPAM with Real HORMEL Bacon 520mg sodium - but it's not on sale and I'm not paying $40 for 12.

I'm 40 and tried Spam for the first time in my life a couple of weeks ago bc I had a free coupon at Kroger for sushi made with Spam.
I wasn't sure what to expect but it wasn't terrible.

people eat spam still? I'll have chicken or turkey hot dogs and cold cut deli meats for sandwiches. but spam seems another level of unhealthy and foods probably shouldn't eat. Although growing up mom would cook us corned beef, Vienna sausage with eggs and fried rice with soy sauce weekly. also toasted bread with slices of better and jam. or toasted bread with regular peanut butter and sugar sprinkled on top. not healthy at all lol
Tbh, those things are as bad if not worse, health-wise. Spam gets a bad rep because canned meat is 'ugly' generally, but sliced and fried this may have a bit more sodium than some, but definitely not all, of those. Peanut butter on bread is very healthy, though I personally wouldnt want much sweetness there. Maybe a touch of honey, but everything is a spectrum, wheat vs white, peanut butter vs peanut 'spread', etc.

there is another company that has it, and it's okay but definitely not the same.
