Fyi, people have found preloaded malware on these agemagic devices. Maybe those issues have been resolved but it's something all potential buyers should know

Every time one of these mini pc deals comes up, I am scared off by poste/articles about Chinese spyware or malware that even a fresh Win 11 install won't get rid of (embedded in the BIOS?). I'm not paranoid by nature, but I'd like to be able to do banking/taxes, etc on this if necessary and not worry.

Should I be sizing tinfoil hats?

Wtf are you being a whole crybaby for? Do you own AceMagic? If a company has a history of loading Spyware in their products, the consumers have a right to know.

Or Jellyfin which is free. But really, devies have been able to natively decode 4k content for many years now. The only reason would be to serve videos to devices away from home from your home collection.

Also File/backup server, automation hub, tons of stuff.

There's a difference between the description and the pictures - text says wifi5/Bluetooth 4.1 while the pictures are WiFi 6 and BT4.3, and it also says the m2 slots are one nvme and one sata while the picture has two nvme drives so it's a bit buyer beware. Otherwise it's a solid price for a decent small system.

Dual Lan ports could be used for a router, the CPU is good enough for basic desktop/office or media player (though there's not going to be much storage space.)

In that case just erase the harddrive and do a fresh install of Windows 11. The odds of a hardware spyware/malware are extremely low.

Even if you are not good with computers its not hard, especially with modern versions of windows.

Hello - I am looking to set up a Plex server for my parents and hopefully 4k (if not, 1080p...)

Is this a good option? I heard about the newer N150 CPU but I am seeing that this N97 is faster except multi-threading.
