RTINGS gave it an 8.6/10, saying [rtings.com]
The Samsung Q990D is excellent for mixed usage. This bar can do it all. It has a very balanced and neutral sound, so it sounds versatile enough for movies, TV shows, and music. It delivers thumpy and punchy bass, too, thanks to its subwoofer, and you can even customize its sound thanks to its robust sound enhancement features. This bar supports a lot of different audio formats and can play Dolby Atmos content to give you a really immersive and dimensional audio experience.
Same thing happened to me, I ended up buying it at $700 and honestly I have no regrets...this setup is very nice!
Still kinda mad Samsung cancelled my $400 order awhile back lol, not sure I wanna spend the $700

You're in for a real treat when you start watching movies! 🍿
IMO they are pretty equal sound-wise and if anything this is better for movies which is my main use case for a sound bar. Looking at it from a $$$ perspective it isn't even close. The Sonos sub costs nearly this much on its own.
To really hear what this is capable of, you need to watch a 4K blu-ray. The audio blows streaming audio away. Streaming platform audio is all compressed, unless you download the uncompressed files (which are usually huge files) and use something like a Plex server. Otherwise, it doesn't matter what your internet speed is. Netflix, Prime, Apple TV, etc… all compressed. Disc audio is noticeably better. I have Top Gun Maverick digitally and on 4K blu-ray, and it's a big difference. It sounds amazing on this system.
