Is this a good brand/quality? No reviews on Costco. Need to get a better level 2 than the one that came with our car.

This seems to be the NEMA 14-50 version so charging is limited to 40A. Costco title 50A is misleading (not op fault). Also $350 seems to be Costco regular price no discount.

If you just use the Nema plug, the.mn it's 40amos but pretty sure it can be hardwired which would get you the 50 amps.

I have chargepoint and I am glad that I went with it because my electric company stopped giving off hours credits to many EVs and chargers due compatibility and software issues with them. The only chargers that are approved are Tesla and Chargepoint right now. If this is a concern, you may want to check with your power company to see if there are any specific chargers / brands that work for credits or tax benefits.

Schumacher has been making Battery Chargers as long as car batteries have been around.
They've made quite a few EV chargers over the years that for the most part are fairly straightforward, and just "work".

J1772 is practically dead with nearly all manufactures switching to NACS in the US.

Go for a NACS unit to future proof your charger, else you will be stuck with having to use an adapter forever!

For some people using an adapter maybe ok, but I love the fact that my NACS charger ( Tesla mobile charger) has a button which opens the charge port even if the vehicle is in sleep mode. No need to get the phone or open a door to wake up the vehicle. But if you are going to use an adapter, that may not be an option.

Yeah, 100%. Get a NACS charger with a J1772 adapter. You'll need to use the adapter for now, but your future self will thank you since this is the standard going forward.

Many 50A EVSEs include a NEMA 14-50… they just limit the 14-50 plug to 40A and include an option to bypass it for hardwired 50A.You just disconnect the cable during installation, run a 60A circuit directly to internal connections, and configure the EVSE to 50A (usually some internal toggle/jumper near the internal terminals for hard-wiring).
