Every time I see a 779 posted I feel compelled to let others know 1 its an awesome saw and 2 you can upgrade it to add a shadow line that the 780 has.

Yes, the 780 is currently about $650. This deal plus the conversion kit (about $130) will be much cheaper. Remember this saw weights 55lbs, is NOT not an easy fit for a garage workshop, and will be difficult to manhandle onto a miter stand with any frequency

Commercial quality. But for many home woodworkers. the Skil version at $280, with the shadow light, is equally accurate and probably worth a look.

It's a 10" so not exactly comparable to the Dewalt.

I'll second all the votes that this is an awesome saw. Also in total agreement, it is a heavy beast. I will admit, one time when I was sick-fluish, I thought I would pick up the saw and move it in my garage shop as I usually do...I didn't realize how sick I was. I dropped it from about 4-foot to the cement floor. I was sure my saw had screwed the pooch...turns out this beast of a saw was and continues to be awesome.
