I bet it still makes rice better than anything else in this price range though

I bought this (with the student discount). Well worth the money. I used to cook jasmine rice in a regular pot on the stove. And I've also used those cheap $15 Armana brands from target. This is a game changer. Rice and more fragrant and it keeps it warm way better. Also… rice is fluffy and delicious !

You'd probably want to try CUCKOO Micom Rice Cooker [amazon.com]. Made in Korea.
