I prefer the velcro straps better than this, something like: https://www.amazon.com/Boxer-Velc...B0F7ZCFY2J
The plastic parts will eventually break after being thrown around, but the velcro ones are much sturdier.

I use luggage straps as a backup in case a zipper fails. It also makes it very easy to identify and then physically retrieve my bag from the carrousel. Ultimately it's a cheap price for peace of mind while traveling with a lot of stuff.
