I bought this in January 2024 when it was on sale for $99.99 at Costco. I did not set it up for over a year. When I finally set it up it has not been good. Constantly goes offline. I can't make it more than a few days before it goes offline again. It appears to just shut off. Rachio support sent a long list of things to check including to completely disconnect the controller to see if I have a zone short. Previous controller had no such issues so it is not that. It is either defective or has known issues. Time wasted.

I ordered one to test out...currently have a Hunter X-Core that continually resets it's own current time and will run randomly day/night despite my constant reprogramming.

my neighbor recommended Rachio to me. I bought the 8-zone version from Amazon early July when it was on sale for $164.50. This 12-zone version seems to be exclusive to Costco. $150 is a good deal even if you don't use all 12 zones. I only use 5 zones out of my 8 at this time.

Rachio's network connectivity has been rock solid on my home wifi network, I do have a very good wifi network with multiple access points around the house. IIRC it supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. It is great I don't have to decide which days I should water the lawn and flowers. I just let it decides when to water based on local weather information it gathers.

You'll be happy. It's very intuitive through the app. Good user experience.

No issues with mine. I have it mounted in the outdoor enclosure. https://a.co/d/arkwerU

Never loses signal and boots up fine after a power outage. Adjusts up or down depending on the time of year and weather. The only time I even open the app is when I want to run a single zone to test the coverage.

I bought it last time, and two years with zero issues.

I have two of their smart hose controllers and love them. Easy to program, and can split a 20 minute watering into two 10 minute segments with a break in the middle to let it soak in. Skipping watering when it rains is nice too.

have had the 16 zone rachio 3 since 2018 with zero connection issues.
it does, however, want me to have a $500/mo water bill

I still use my rachio but not any of the smart features. I found the weather data (local and the hyper local) both to be unreliable. It would water after a monsoon and skip when it hadn't rained for a week. Now I just use on a manual every three days schedule and skip if it's been raining. Good concept but my personal experience was that the data it got was unreliable

I've had this model for about 15 months after getting it from a prior Costco deal. It was stupid simple to set up and just works. Very handy for troubleshooting leaks since you can turn on and off zones while in the yard. I've got it dialed in for my seasons so don't touch it much anymore.

check your router set up to increase its sensitivity. decrease Minimum RSSI to even more negative number. I had the same issue with mine, and was resolve with this fix.

Some water companies will give you a rebate if you upgrade to a smart sprinkler controller like this. Check for rebates to sweeten the deal.

Had this for 5 years and was rock solid. App was easy to use, weather data was accurate, and scheduling changes due to weather were wonderful. Being able to turn the sprinkler system off and on for the year while out in the yard to adjust zones or blow them out worked really well. Several coworkers also have these, and everyone loves them.

Sounds like the battery is dead or missing and it defaults to 3x a day for new turf.
