there is a $10 rebate out there for MOBIL1 at those auto parts stores, but their prices are much higher, more than wiping out the benefit of a higher rebate. This rebate appears to be only for retailers with B&M operations.

walmart online purchases do not qualify for the rebate. Be aware! You can also play some game to potentially earn higher rebate. I have submitted 3 times and didn't win. Also I didn't get any confirmation emails for submission (submitted 2 for myself and 1 for family). Called them and they said my rebate was submitted.

Could've sworn mobile 1 went on sale 5qts for $15 after rebates as recently as last year. Costco recently had 4pack of Kirkland 5qt jugs for $70 but was $60 a few montgs ago.

Can I ask where you are getting that information from? If true, you can order online to ensure stock, return/rebuy in the store and get a store receipt. That way you don't waste a trip there for nothing to find out they don't have your oil in stock.
