Totally new to battery backups but question for those who know. What prevents these backup batteries from degrading overtime when not used? As we know by now all battery cells degrade overtime. For those who own or have experience I would love to know.

so if I use 1k watt an hour constant for my basic items, this $7600 will not even last a day on a rainy stormy or cloudy day. I don't see the draw really for that kind of money.

Nothing prevents that from occurring - it's expected. This battery chemistry tends to get down to 80% after several years, but frequently maintains the 80% level for quite some time following that.

I agree. The battery tech/value just isn't quite there yet. This is still a good deal at the moment, particularly since it's from Costco. I ideally want two of these units to run in parallel, but $15k is just not happening.

The value prop for these is if you've got rooftop solar. Then you can theoretically go much longer during an outage by topping it up on solar as it gets used.

This is a great solution for countries like Cuba ,they cut off the electricity 6 to 9 hours daily and with solar panels will be a great solution!

I dug deep to see if I could utilize this system to beat the Georgia power peak rate by using battery during peak hours and recharge during super off peak but my calculation (not accounting for battery degradation) indicated it would take 10 years before I break even. I didn't not count for solar panels as that is not feasible for me.

The last 2 Black Fridays, it was $8K, including the SHP2. Just be aware, FedEx is used for shipping and they're not kind to these boxes. Be sure to keep all packaging material!! Ecoflow support is super slow, so if you have anything defective, it would be easier/faster to exchange with Costco (they offered free pickup for me). I didn't have some of the boxes, so I had to have Ecoflow do the replacements, which took 5 MONTHS.

No, previous Costco sale price Black Friday and a few other times can easily be looked up on 18kWH delta pro ultra was $1000 off the regular $8999/9999 with the smart home panel 2. Has never been 8k with the SHP2.

This isn't a buy and put it away for an emergency kinda purchase. It's a get it, get solar, and offset your power bill, get ROI kinda power station.

I had mine installed by an electrician, paid $1100 if you use ecoflow recommended installer it costs around $2100 min
