M5 MacBooks supposedly not coming out until 2026, at least according to Macrumors. [macrumors.com]

I think that on a $1300 investment, the 90-day return and 2nd year warranty is worth more than the $50. Also, if you have the Costco credit card and Executive Membership, you'll get 4% back ($52 ) Just my $0.02 though

I was able to pull a price match on $1250 with bestbuy. Now I wonder if I should get it from bestbuy or Costco. I think the M5 pro is coming up soon that's why all retailers are discounting the m4 pro.

Nice. How'd you match to $1,250?

Title/description need SSD size.. one of the most important things to know about these since they're not (easily) upgradeable. (edit: already updated!)

I'd go for Costco if you're a member. Better company, and better return policy.

While this isn't an M4 Pro chip, the active cooling makes it better than an 'equivalent' Macbook Air - plus you get the MiniLED backlit screen and much better sound. Sound quality on 14" & 16" MBPs is essentially unrivaled, especially at this price point.

Not bad! $300 less than Apple regular prices, and $200 less than Apple Education pricing.
Plus the 90-day return policy if you change your mind.

BUT.... I'd rather go 24GB which gets you the Pro chip for $350 more.

But that Pro chip comes with:
  • 50% more memory,
  • 20% more CPU cores,
  • 60% more GPU cores, and it
  • more than doubles the memory speed (120GBps to 273GBps).
To be clear it's doubling the CPU performance cores but goes down from 6 to 4 efficiency cores (from 10 CPU total to 12 CPU total).

That is a lot of extras for only 25% more ($350) and is probably worth pushing it up to $1750.

Only, that's $450 more, so more like 35% extra

This is a good deal. Paying 35% more is only warranted if you're going to use all the extra power and GPU. This laptop has been an absolute workhorse for me. Some of the applications I use this for include Autodesk fusion, capture one, photo ai, and Davinci resolve. The M4 pro chip doesn't even break a sweat. Granted I don't do audio editing or AI training but if you don't either, then this is more than enough for years to come.

AppleCare is totally different than the warranty. Make sure to read up on it. AppleCare covers a lot more.

It's also worth more just to "future proof"… i don't do a lot of that stuff but buying the m4 pro chip and also WiFi 7… I know I'm gonna be okay for many years to come.

for 1200$ you can get a 24gb / 512gb air tho..
the screen isnt too noticeable in difference. the 120hz is noticeable, and the speakers are much better
