There appear to be quite a few sales on new Sodastream CO2 cylinders:
  • Kohl's has two-packs of both the old/"blue" and CQC/"pink" cylinders on sale for $53.99 here [kohls.com], or $27 per cylinder, discounted from $68.99 or $34.50 each. This makes them more expensive than the following four merchants, but since they're over $50, they'll net you $10 in Kohl's Cash on the purchase of each two-pack.
  • Target has a more straightforward discount to $24.99 for both the blue [target.com] and pink [target.com] cylinders, normally priced at $31.99 each.
  • Walmart beats Target's prices by 3¢ each ($24.96) on both the blue [walmart.com] and pink [walmart.com] cylinders, normally priced at $34.99 each.
  • Ace Hardware also has them at $24.99 each (pink [acehardware.com] and blue [acehardware.com]), marked down from $31.99.
  • Best Buy has the same deal for pink [bestbuy.com] and blue [bestbuy.com]; $24.99 each, marked down by $7.
Amazon, Home Depot, CVS, and Staples were also checked, and they are all selling the cylinders at full price.

No clue whether this price drop will affect how much exchange credit you'd get for bringing in a tapped-out CO2 cylinder to any of those merchants, but this seems to be a pretty rare sale on the CO2 cylinders themselves.

I finally broke down and bought a full CO2 tank and adapter to connect up to it to my SodaStream and I'm so glad I did!

It's actually cheaper to set up auto delivery with Sodastream, charge is @ $37 total (for 2) with included UPS shipping and there's even free returns, USPS picks up at your door.

I use an online service called simplisoda and they only charge about $28 for two cans of CO2 when you swap your empty containers in to them. Shipping included. $14/can so much cheaper than this

I bought a 20lbs tank and it lasts me about 6 months. $45 US to fill. I use it to fill the 60l tanks. So easy and cheaper

They are great. I had an issue that was my fault and they fixed it for free. When I called some nice lady answered and took care of my problem. It's rare in a world where most customer service places are hard to reach or can't speak English well

Glad there is an alternative to sodastream. They have been on the BDS list for a long time and are basically an Israeli company operating in the illegally Occupied West Bank. Not buying their products is a small way you can show your opposition to the joint Israel/US genocide being committed in Gaza.
