This is where this unit should be priced on the regular IMO

I dont own this ...but the PAC Units( Onkyo RZ70 etc) offer a lot more performance value for the $$

So f'ing tempting if only I didn't just come back from vacation and buy a car!

My guess is Denon is going to announce their new lineup at Cedia... this is probably the start of them clearing out old inventory.

When is cedia?

I'm looking at buying the Denon 3800 next time it goes on sale $900-$1000, but I'll hold off if there are new avrs on the horizon

they would have the 3800h deal now if it wasn't backordered until sept. I wanted to set things up during summer so bought during prime day. sigh

It depends how you define performance.

Those PAC units don't offer 13 channel processing, wide channels, 6 height/object based channels, 4 independent sub outs, independent preamp mode, A1EVO access and if you're into Dirac access to ART very soon.
This does!

That's a lot of performance for this price imo!

Get a tx-rx70 or vsx-lx805 - much cheaper with free Dirac live.

Copilot says "Denon unveiled the AVR-X6800H at CEDIA Expo in early September 2023, with units hitting authorized dealers at the start of 2024".

So this receiver was unveiled almost 5 years ago. Guess it's time for an update.
Your math leaves a lot to be desired.

I messaged a dozen smaller dealers in the spring when someone said the same thing. No one would match it, much less beat it.

If you have the name of a dealer that wants the business post it, or pm me if it violates some ridiculous MSRP terms.

Well.. published professionals have the said the RZ70 is the best AVR under $3500

In fact I saw one the other day that said the Pioneer LX805 was the best AVR under $5000

Both were assuming a customer using a one box solution and utilizing the significant power of the PAC units

To your point about the price..I do agree somewhat
This is where it should be on the regular and maybe reflects how down sales are at Denon/Marantz and the new ownership making changes...
