I got the bike in a week, but the very end of the frame where the rear derailleur screws in and attached to is bent inwards, so much that it is making chain rub noise when peddling. The chain is just about touching the tire when on gear 1. Even the metal guard for the derailleur is bent, so it's like it got dropped or something dropped on it. Could have been damaged in transit or from factory, I don't know. The rest of the bike looks ok and electric throttle works fine. What should be appropriate compensation for this? Do you think this is fixable by bike shop and glleeride should reimburse for repair cost or too damaged and must return and refund?
I saw youtube videos of rear derailleur mech hangar bending repair, and it doesn't look hard, but it looks like most hangar are attached at the same place where the axle is. This bike frame has an additional hole below the axle where the hangar attaches to. I read this is a design flaw since if it snaps off, basically you can't hang the derailleur.
Since this is aluminum frame which I read is not as strong as steel, I don't know if bending it back would compromise the bike frame integrity where that area might break off eventually and render the bike unable to have a rear derailleur. So maybe it's better if I return it and ask glleeride to send a new one. It's a shame since everything else about the bike looks good

I am not anti cheap ebike but getting a good one out of the box I think a minimum just for your peace of mind and it is the least they can do. I get taking some risk of maybe future problems but you do not need them right out of the box.
You have opened a box with an added headache and from what I hear you may struggle to get them to work with a bike shop or a bike shop may not want to work with them or you. I'm just afraid you are setting yourself up for disappoint and headaches. It is frame damage and that I think kind of big one.
Ultimately your call and just my thoughts on it. Must be frustrating since you like it overall and are now worried and that is what worries me about you keeping it. I'm sure there is some pull where you just want to use it and have some fun but don't let that guide you wrong early in.
You could try reaching out to them but I hear it can often be a drawn out and almost impossible process and you do not want to do that to long as it could affect a CC dispute.
Do us a favor and update on how it goes. It could help people on the fence with buying these very low price bikes. Personally think it well worth some risk even if you get a bike that may only last a few years. The prices are not much off cheap regular bikes. They are a blast and quite fun to ride. I was never high end bike before ebike and still feel no need for the security and safety that spending la small fortune to get me safety and security from having to maybe work on something myself.

On another note, the obesity crisis in America is so bad, it is the worst out of all wealthy countries. Parents should encourage their kids to ride bikes or walk, not to take the easy option.

I thought reimbursement would be fair, if bike shop could fixed. It would still be worth it if I get a few years out of it, if glleeride refunds me the cost of my time and repair, which I'm guessing could be minimum $100. If the bike shop can't fix, I would at minimum ask for half my money back ($250), since it can still run the electric motor, but i would have to make it a fixed gear bike, since the rear derailleur is useless . And if they won't do any of that, then I will dispute on PayPal.
I guess I will see what I will do once I get it to the bike shop.
