What's inside for shucking?Killing me here. My parity is a gold 18TB. Don't want to go any bigger but it's more expensive for the smaller drives. Like what!?!?

You could get a full 5 year warranty by buying an Exos version of this at double the price. Even though these are barracudas it's the exact same as the Exos, potentially just binned.buy 2 and you'll come out way ahead
Exactly. If you are able to get the 10% coupon the 26TB is a great price per TB (maybe one of the best seen recently?). None of these Seagates are guaranteed Exos at the moment and if you need a 5 year warranty or a specific drive for a NAS you shouldn't be buying this.

There are a ton of reddit threads where people post what they've received. It seems to differ over time, by capacity, and even then from one batch of external drives to the next from month to month. And even though some may be labeled Barracuda, as someone mentioned earlier in the thread, these may not be clearly consumer grade drives based on testing people have conducted.

I think that, for someone who actually wants an external drive and will accept something not necessarily enterprise grade, this is indeed a good deal!

Been awhile since I purchased a mechanical drive. Does anyone know if these are SMR or CMR drives.

Thanks OP. Will buy 2 to place in my synology NAS server - with 10% discount (Had to create an account and browse the product section to get the 10% offer with email and phone # opt in), ends up being $450 plus tax for 2. Should be enough storage for like the rest of my life lol.

How do I check what I have received to know which one it is (exos , barra etc ) ?
