Will it just start cooking after the pre-heat?

My current air fry has a preheat but i can just set the time and start it. It will beep a few times after the preheat then start the cook timer.

I just set it and let it do its thing with the food already in there.

Might snag this since it had a wider base. I never really need a tall basket but more surface area. This seems to fit the bill.

I have a bella 8 quart basket style and I've found that using the steam rack from an instant pot in there and laying food so it's against that rack (round and sits in middle) lets me get more in there with open surface area so the hot air can still cook it on both sides. Might be something to try with your current one. You can also lay an item on the rack which is real good for quick browning of an item. I also use a silicon basket inside which keeps all the mess in that for easy cleaning.

It does not. It pauses and the screen displays "Add Food" and will sit there until you do it. I bought this same unit and it's been a hard period of adjusting as I'm used to it going right into cooking after PH. So far it's cooking food great, I'm just so unused to that PH window.

I'm not too fond of not having a dial or something to set temp/time etc.

Dang, that's pretty much a deal breaker if it has a long preheat.

I bought this and took it back after a few days.
The touchscreen was not the most responsive, it is also a plastic-ish material that had marks just from me peeling the film off. It will scratch in no time.
The rack with the two handles was fiddley and was very easy to slide in slightly off center which wouldn't start the timer.
Pre heat time was relatively slow.
I put some enchiladas in that just requires you to pierce the film in any other air fryer. Because the heating element is that much closer, the film melted into little globs and the fan sucked it up (just something to be aware of)

These comments make me think I don't understand the point of preheating. Isn't the whole point of preheating so that the food is not subjected to the temperatures in-between room temp and cooking temp? Like I thought that was detrimental to food.

Sometimes we're just lazy.
I'd buy an robo arm that will open the door after preheating and then put my food in
Not gonna to move my lazy ass.

????
The benefit of using counter top ovens is that there's no need for preheat as a large oven.

IDK.... about this particular item but it's not a good idea to purchase small appliances with touchscreens that get hot because eventually the heat will fry the board. It is best to get one with the old fashion knobs.
