Why would you care. You have already shared with Google and Facebook, willingly, way more than what you could've possibly leaked anywhere else. At least my router ain't get to know my email password, driving route or purchase history.

I read on Reddit, from an alleged Best Buy employee, that the 15% off trade in offer is ONLY applicable to original retail price merchandise, and not on anything already marked down on sale. I'm not sure. was planning on this exact router deal using this method, but upon looking at the fine print I believe they were correct, it states that it's 15% off original retail price.

Tons of malware load into tplink routers memory and take over your internet connection for DDOS and other attacks then unload afterwards. When you try to scan or clean it off nothing appears. Avoid

I wonder if you can trade in broken ones. lol. Or my extra old one im forced to sue right now, which is 9 years old. And I wonder if you can trade them in for discounts on other models.

Not the greatest deal, this was $135 with Amazon Prime Card the other week, but not bad without the prime card, since we dont know if that deal is ever coming back.

Thats a made up lie, so please move on with your life. All routers are susceptible to DDOS attacks or did you miss that the last major brand with an malware attack was Asus just the other month....

I doubt they do anything but a power on test if even that. I traded in a printer one day and I dont think they even tried to turn it on.

You should check out more cybersecurity websites. All routers are susceptible to attacks but particularly affect a host of tplink routers because tplink barely updates their routers firmware. They keep making new versions give it the same name plus model number and if you have the older version you are summarily abandoned and left with a router chock full of security vulnerabilities. This is why bad actors love tplink.

No genius, if you check those same cyber security websites, they also mention that other brands such as ASUS, NETGEAR, and LINKSYS just to name a few are affected by the same exact attacks, but just on a smaller scale... Now go get educated if you want to participate in educated discussions. The last major TP-Link attack if you actually read about instead of being a parrot without any knowledge, you would know also included other brands. Very few attacks do not transfer over to other routers as many zero day vulnerabilities never get patched as their threat assessment puts them at a low risk usually. Which is why some vulnerabilities exist for many years on many brands of routers, even those that patch regularly.

Example:
"https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/4365/" Look at the entry on 9/9/2024

Cudy's BE11000 is $140 at Amazon, and you get a TR3000 thrown in for free.
I'd rather have a Cudy than a TP-Link.

Both come from China companies, but at least TP-Link is now based in California, so your not gaining anything either way besides going with a even more obscure manufacture.

Here is the page (fine print) on BestBuy:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/recy...7300657381

It says you get 15% off the current price. Doesn't say anything about it needing to be at normal price.
