Bought another Blue Multi pack of Hanes tshirts. The material for the blue shirts ended up a bit rough so I don't plan on wearing them. May end up donating. Not sure how the gray will be.

I think the blue ones are 100% cotton. The Charcoal Heather ones are a cotton/polyester blend...and tend to be softer (more supple) than the 100% cotton ones. Also: I think your blue ones will soften up after a few washes. I bought some too, and I was a little surprised at how scratchy the material was. I had them before, and they weren't like that. It's probably something added to the thin material to make it less difficult to work with during manufacturer?

I bought the solid blue 100% cotton in the last deal. They feel like sandpaper and they come apart after the first wash

Same here. I have a 60/40 blend Hanes charcoal heather, and it's kind of scratchy. Looks good though.
