I just bought the river 3 plus wireless boost combo from costco and the eb300 batttery extension from costo next on a previous deal for a total of $400. Seems like buying two of these is a much better deal and a little under half the price.

It does depend on one's needs, but given all things being equal -- I'd almost always say it's better buying two smaller units.

You can split the load, taking the units to where your devices are located. But more so, you have an entire "spare"/second unit in case one of them bites the dust. If you have devices that simply MUST have available power, I'd rather gracefully swap units than realize "oh no, I'm stuck" if something goes wrong by putting all your eggs in one basket. Eggs are expensive, yo.
