Would anyone who bought the earlier FP deal want to provide a review?

Why we still gotta buy 20 year old battery tech doesn't make sense.

All these manufacturers still using cylindrical instead of prismatic cells but charge high prices still and Milwaukee wants $150 just to buy the charger for their forge marketing battery stuff.

This isn't Milwaukee, it's Ridgid.

At least they include the battery and charger with this flashlight! So many of these deals seem to neglect those essentials. But then again, maybe every american has a closet full of Ridgid, Milwaukee, Ryobi, Dewalt, Metaboo, Hitachi, Kobalt, Craftsman, Skil, and Black+Decker (because the & sign was too controversial apparently) batteries...just sitting around waiting to be used. United States of Batteries!

If they bundle batteries/chargers into every deal, some folks are upset (because they don't want another battery or charger). If they don't bundle batteries and/or chargers, others get upset because they are just starting out their Ridgid collection.

Too bad the batteries and chargers are serialized to a person's DNA, making them entirely unable to be resold in any second-hand marketplaces.

Sure, but you lose out on the lifetime service agreement in the second hand marketplace. That's the big advantage of Ridgid over others, buy once, especially great for batteries.

Oh, that lifetime service argument is a total and utter scam.

You have to take the broken tool to an authorized service contractor, in person. And unless you live in a major metropolitan area, they are far and few between. Mine was a two hour drive away. Was NOT allowed to mail the tool.

I checked the reviews for that service center, and they had utterly horrible ratings. People waiting months for a repair, not being repaired correctly, etc.

After calculating the total cost to get it repaired -- two separate days off work with an 8 hour total travel time, fuel, etc....it was massively cheaper for me to throw the broken tool in the trash and simply buy a new one. Not factoring in the personal hassle of the entire endeavor -- or missing out on the tool for many weeks either!

Ridgid absolutely knows what they're doing.

(That's not to say they don't make a decent product -- some of their stuff is pretty nice. I have a few pieces still to this day. But I wouldn't count on the LSA to be worth any more than a roll of Charmin!)

Sorry to hear that, but I politely disagree. I too live rural (Maine) and to date the only tool that wasn't resolved through the mail or a local Home Depot was a very large and heavy table saw. That's the only time I had to drive a while to drop off a repair. But the LSA is absolutely fantastic -nearly 20 years of being in the Ridgid family and I've had maybe 2 tools wear out that they replaced with far better and upgraded models and a handful of battery packs that died and those too were replaced in the mail with far better and higher capacity packs. I'll live and die by Ridgid at this point I've had nothing but impressive experiences in the rare cases something did fail.
