For $250 you can't do much better than this. I have a 6650xt I bought a couple of years ago for $200 and it's good enough for 1440p for the games I play.

Hot take, 8gb of ram is plenty, especially if you play esports titles. The issue is that new games aren't optimized at all and it somehow feels like it's on purpose.

Honestly, not that hot of a take. I largely agree, especially considering the price point. The street price of a 16GB variant is over $100 more than this deal. That's 40% more... It would be nuts to choose a $360-380 16GB over this.

I don't think this is correct though. Maybe a few games here and there. But for the most part, VRAM usage has increased because devs have found that higher res textures are a relatively computationally cheap way to increase visual quality. And there are plenty of higher-end graphics cards that have excess VRAM and can and do take advantage. Low end users could just choose to lower texture quality and accept that their price point has compromises.

$140 price difference between the 8gb and 16gb gigabyte model here. That is a pretty big gap. Basically a whole different tier of GPU pricing. I feel like AMD should have just make a cut down 9060 (non xt) and sold it at $200-$250 instead of releasing a 8gb 9060xt. At this point it only costs them maybe 10 bucks more to make the 16gb model but they are charging $140 more. A $130 increase in profit.

I'm actually curious why they are even bothering to reduce the prices of these 8gb models. Why not just make a lot less of them and let them sit on shelves to promote sales of the 16gb for larger profits?

It really is mostly an issue of optimization. Games now often look no better than games from 10 years ago--the only real difference being 4K resolution and ray-tracing, when it's used. If you're gaming at 1080p and not doing ray tracing, there's no reason 8GB shouldn't be enough.

I'll admit that it sometimes isn't enough, but that's mostly lazy programming.

I dont really see the value here, the only people that should even consider getting this are the ones that are on the tightest of budget but still would like some newer technology....
