Perhaps with regular practice it gets easier to use but I maybe pull them out once or twice a year. A few use case examples I did were sealing a large crack in the stucco exterior which worked well and sealing the base of the toilet to the tile floor in the bathroom which this was difficult to use.

I have it. Bought while building a house and it was incredible. Highly recommend. Works at all angles.
I think a lot depends on your level of skill with a traditional caulk gun. If it's high, you may not find the pros outweigh the cons. However, for me, I like to use the Ryobi caulk gun. It is especially useful when doing a long run like baseboard, bathtubs or an exterior wall. It enables me to get a consistent line that needs very little tooling which is hard for me with a regular caulk gun likely due to the fact that I have little experience with them.

I've not done this before but interested. So are you 100% sure you can return just the tool?
I've used this "hack" a couple times to get tools I didn't have for a better price and just returned the batteries.
Though I'm not sure you'll love it for that purpose, unless you have so many lights to caulk that you're willing to compromise on control.
This thing really shines when you have a mile of caulking to do, and a perfect bead is not your priority. For example in my 7,000 warehouse shop, we caulked every window and wall seam in a day.
When I first bought it I used it to recaulk my shower surround... Bad idea. I learned to have better control but it doesn't compare to an experienced hand with a regular ol' cheapo HDX caulk gun for proper control.
For your purpose, I don't think you'll be happy with it. Again unless you have a hundred lights to do and are willing to master the tool.

It's okay… it works vertically.
Mmm I think mine broke though. Had it for half a year. Although I think that might've been my fault… I may have forgotten to break the foil seal on one tube. I got mine at direct tool outlet though
