Features:
- Crafted from solid, sustainable hevea wood of the maple family with strong grains
- The multilayered packaging (6-sided Styrofoam and 4 corner cardboards) undergoes meticulous production to upgrade protection ability, thus preventing the butcher block table top from warping during transportation
- The edges and surfaces of these unfinished butcher block slabs are meticulously ground and pre-sanded. You can personalize the tabletop to fit your style with a natural teak, cherry, or walnut appearance, thanks to its unfinished surface.

MSRP seems a tad inflated - Home Depot has a different product but what appears to be the same size for $192 so still a good price.

They even have a photo of the packaging so hopefully it arrives in good condition.https://d3gqasl9vmjfd8.
I personally use the IKEA Karlby (Walnut) countertop but it's a) not solid wood and b) now $239 - I do like it a lot though it's not very deep. 30" is generally the perfect depth for a desk imo.

I don't normally like using stain to change the color of wood, but at this price, I'm tempted to risk it

I have stained one from HD and it came out pretty well. Be sure to treat the surface before doing so, to get an even finish.

Thanks for the floor and decor link. Beech has a much higher janka hardness rating than Hevea, so I'd be inclined to go with that.
