Floor and Decor has a similar one that i've used for a couple projects and this is the regular price. https://www.flooranddecor.com/woo...27540.html

I just know shipping will beat the ever loving crud out of this thing. It's tough enough finding a good condition slab at HD/Lowes.Still, solid price if you're willing to gamble on handling.

Amazon link for reference.

MSRP seems a tad inflated - Home Depot has a different product but what appears to be the same size for $192 so still a good price.

Via the listing:
  • UPGRADE PROTECTIVE PACKAGING: The multilayered packaging (6-sided Styrofoam and 4 corner cardboards) undergoes meticulous production to upgrade protection ability, thus prevent the butcher block table top from warping during transportation
They even have a photo of the packaging so hopefully it arrives in good condition.

I personally use the IKEA Karlby (Walnut) countertop but it's a) not solid wood and b) now $239 - I do like it a lot though it's not very deep. 30" is generally the perfect depth for a desk imo.

Ordered, anyone have any experience/recommendations as far as Mortor for this to be used as a sit-stand desk?

Eh, you've need to varnish or clear epoxy the heck out of it.

Does anyone have experience staining these?
I don't normally like using stain to change the color of wood, but at this price, I'm tempted to risk it

I have stained one from HD and it came out pretty well. Be sure to treat the surface before doing so, to get an even finish.

I picked up a 96" version of this via Amazon and it was perfectly fine when it arrived. Was delivered by UPS.

Thanks for the floor and decor link. Beech has a much higher janka hardness rating than Hevea, so I'd be inclined to go with that.

I've done a few times with the one purchased from IKEA years back, the same size. It was pretty simple, I did two coatings. better to use water based, the oil based is though more glossy but have the smell that needs to get away for weeks.
