The Rune Factory series is a spinoff of Harvest Moon (now called Story of Seasons), but it's much lighter on the farming and has combat elements. Typically farming to buff/level your character. The farming is a lot more streamlined and simple than harvest moon, including basically no interaction with the animals/monsters caught. For Azuma specifically, there's an option to let npcs from the village building mechanic do the farming for you, though they suck at it and farming becomes less and less of a deal as the game goes on and the rpg part's story progresses.

That said, I absolutely adore Azuma. Other Rune Factory/Harvest Moon games have felt 'grindy' to me sometimes. If you're after more of a chill farming experience, the Story of Seasons series is probably better, But Azuma is great if you like switching playstyles between a farming sim, an rpg, and a city-builder. There's ways to get exp other than the farming and money (although it's a big one) when you're not really feeling the farm, or you can swap your village layout to lots and lots of farm plots if you like more farming. It's one of those "there's always something to do" games.

(Also, also that said, if people who haven't already downloaded the game are looking at getting it, this isn't a super slick deal, since SoS/RF games tend to fall to at least $30 after a year or so on the market, even physical editions.)
