Got this a few days ago and returned. I am a big 8bitdo fan - but if using this for any retro gaming (Tetris or Dr. Mario) - not impressed with the D-Pad. I don't understand how things like this make it past any QA/Design processes. Inconsistent and double registration on simple left and right movements. Give it a go - you can always return? Maybe I got a bad one?

I also bought this exact pink one during prime day for my daughter and haven't noticed any issues with double inputs, so yours may have been a defective unit. I've actually been quite impressed with the quality and feel for the low price tag. Worth noting that this has digital triggers, not analog, which I actually prefer but isn't suitable for racing games.

To be clear - my issue was with the D-pad only.

I Recommend some dpad testing while you are still in the return window.

When I ordered the controller a few weeks ago (I posted the same deal here), the controller's delivery was delayed until August. I messaged customer support, and they said to order the controller from another seller and reach back out to get a refund of the price difference. Customer support gave me a refund of the price difference the next day, after I received the controller, no problem.
