I binged the whole season of BOB while on watch while on restriction and was left pretty much blown away. What an excellent series!

It is one of the greatest mini series ever made. I've watched the whole thing three times. Yet to see The Pacific. I understand it's good but perhaps not on the same level.

The Pacific is good too, but the European theatre is so rich in environmental diversity that I only watched the Pacific once. Compared to several times of multiple episodes of BoB. But that may be because I like to feel the harshness of the cold and darkness while viewing them mostly in the winter time.

Maybe I should try watching the Pacific in the summer or spring?

I've seen BOB 3-4 times all the way through, it never gets old.

By comparison, the Pacific had a lot of pacing problems, but was also an uphill battle because of the nature of the fighting (close quarters, night time, island environments). I gave up about halfway through.

Painful to say from someone who had both grandfathers fight in the PTO, one with 2 purple hearts as a rifleman in New Guinea and the Philippines, the other as a PT boat IO. If you want a TLDR version, go with a documentary or the Clint Eastwood movies.

don't bother wasting money on a 2 part set of a 3 part series. it's missing Masters of the Air.

So, the Pacific war is still raging in your mind? How could you not finish the journey? Even if you're not paying attention you could have it playing. Those men deserve to come home from the war still fighting in your head all these years. 😔 Eastwood would call you a pansy! 😂

The pacific lacks the narrative cohesion of Band of Brothers in that it follows the story of 3 different people. It is also very focused on realism, not that Band of Brothers wasn't but the Pacific theater was far more deadly and cruel than the Western Front was in WWII. I enjoy the Pacific but it is more emotionally grueling because of its subject matter.

Pretty sure there will never be a complete box set because the first two were done by HBO and the third by Apple. HBO sold Apple the rights to make Masters of the Air after they backed out of the project.

Not as good as BoB (few things are) but still worth a view. IDK if you'd want to buy it though. I don't really feel a need to watch it again and have seen BoB several times and will probably watch it again. It's just that good.

BOB is the best series I've seen in my life. The Pacific was great but it doesn't come close to BOB.

I picked up an M1 Garand earlier this year and sparked my WWII interest again so I went back and watched BOB for the 4th time and Pacific for the 2nd.

Never heard of Masters of the Air. Gonna have to check that out.

Band of Brothers is easily in the top 10 of everything ever filmed ever. I probably own 3 or 4 copies of it and have watched each episode dozens of times.

I think Chernobyl took that crown, but Band of Brothers is a close second.

Just commenting because I'm not wearing glasses and I thought this was The Band of Brothers + The Pacifier. I was very confused for a moment.
