Reolink makes high resolution products but put small sensors in them. They have worse night time capture than cheap old 2MP cameras because of that. If you're putting these in well lit areas then they're probably okay. Otherwise look for camera with bigger CMOS sensors.

Any examples of cameras with a bigger sensor?

True but they are pretty damn good for the price. I have the 180 degree camera and a doorbell and very happy with both

They will be a lot more expensive. See link below for example of a normal view 4k camera with the proper sensor size for night time viewing (keep in mind that a bigger denominator means bigger number: 1/1.2" > 1/2.65"). I couldn't find one that was both 4k and 180 degree from this seller.

These kinds of cheaper Reolink cameras won't perform as well as something twice the cost, but you have to decide if it's worth the extra cost. During daylight these will be probably as good as more expensive cameras. At night, outdoors, with little lighting, people's faces will be barely recognizable in movement unless they are standing still or moving extra slow right next to the camera. It's the movement at night that's a problem with these Reolinks.

i always laugh a people making a big deal about night time. $40 gets you a very good motion flood light and problem solved. anything out of range of floodlight and most likely the camera wouldn't pick it up that good that far at night anyways. this is a good deal and its PoE!

I have had Reolink cameras for about 10 years and they have been very reliable.
Started out with their WiFi versions and went to PoE once I got wire run to each location.
The complaints about night resolution haven't been an issue because I have motion lights in all locations that have cameras.
The on board SD card for recording video and the fact you do not need to subscribe to a monthly service for remote viewing is a big plus.

Any chance the EmpireTech camera in your link work on a Reolink NVR? I recently bought a new Reolink system with latest poe cameras and haven't been satisfied.

A floodlight isn't ideal in every situation and multiple may be needed. Night time capture is critical in my use case because that's always when I capture murders on my block/property and I don't want to light up the block all night or worry about malfunctioning or un-triggered IR sensors for a floodlight.

all true concerns. It's why I have Amcrest cameras with good IR night vision. My worst issue is with insects and/or spider webs triggering the cameras.
