I think you're missing out with this mentality. Some things never get 4k releases, some newer 4k releases are just low effort AI upscaled crap. And for Terminator 2, many film enthusiasts consider one of the 1080p releases (IIRC the Skynet edition, not sure which version is in this collection) to be the definitive version and despise the 4k release due to its excessive DNR and color changes. And something like Terminator 3 and the rest I probably wouldn't be willing to buy 4k releases, but to get them all for $15 on 1080p bluray is well worth it to me.

I'll defend Terminator 3. It's a good movie and I thought ending was handled well.

yeah agreed on all points with @saluteyourshorts (also nice reference lol), super-weird flex to be anti-4k if you consider yourself any more than a casual fan of film, for all the reasons they mentioned.

i'm all for a 4k scan/restoration/whatever, but the main benefit to me is hdr and audio upgrades (or most preferably, dolby vision+atmos). if it only has one or two of those things, especially if it's digital, the only thing that sways me there is if it's cheaper. $5 for a lesser 4k digital version of a movie that i'll only watch once in a blue moon is often worth the tradeoff from the physical copy for $10+ etc., unless it's a boutique label, since those usually have at least special features, or aren't available digitally

Absolutely! You can give any of the disc out to friends/family for them to take anywhere.

I'll defend Terminator 4 as I revisited it recently. I'm not a fan of where the series went, but T4 handled the humanness concepts in a decent way without rehashing the way T2 did and made the terminators more advanced without going over the top crazy (a la nano machines). Neither of those things is easily done and they executed both well.
Given the landscape, they made a decent movie story wise, acting wise, and production wise. Yeah, its no T1 or T2, but nothing ever will be because that ship has sailed.

I somewhat agree.
The 4k transfers on these aren't that great, T2 didn't even get an audio upgrade & the audio upgrade on Genisys & Fate are the same on the BD version.

A good player can often upscale good enough to make it comparable.
At the very least can be good enough.

It's not really the resolution that determines the quality.
It's how well they transfer it into the metadata(& tone map HDR).

T2 is a good example, it's the only movie that's not upscaled(it's native) and is the worst transfer of all.

Your loss. T2 on 4K was derived from a completely scrubbed 3D master and looks absolutely horrendous.

Totally agree. I wished they had continued the story afterwards. But alas ...
Similarly, even the Salvation Reboot wasn't the bad. I know i am in minority but there were "that" much director could have done to move into the "future".
T5 was a bit of parody but i wished they would have moved the story just for us to see what would happened to Sarah in an alternate timeline (she came into the future instead of staying back) and T6 could have been better but I liked all of them. T2 is my all time favorite
