I've had the S330 (The OG Eufy Dual Wired + Battery) since Prime Day 2022. Anyone think this is a better upgrade if you've upgraded from that model to this? particularly like the color night vision? I do have a HB3 too.

I've used every generation of Eufy doorbell camera, and this upgraded version is fantastic. The colored night vision is really neat. It works very well. False positives are just about gone. Past Eufy doorbells I had way more false positives. Every property is different though. YMMV.

Thanks for the info! I'm moving soon, so thinking about what I should/shouldn't upgrade. Is the delay any better with the Eufy app than previous generations?

What do you mean with delay? Like the time it takes for a video clip to be served and available? If so, there are several different factors at play. I don't use the battery, I hardwire the doorbell. I've always used hardwired which I hear gives notifications faster. My experience with hardwired it gives the notifications quickly. It also gives the extra perk of being able to get 3s of pre-roll recording.

The other factor is that I use the Eufy Homebase over wifi (the latest model). You could use it over ethernet which I'd imagine would have less latency & serve videos faster.

The one issue I do have is that sometimes playing back a video takes time (sometimes the loading of the video can be excessive). I'm thinking it has to do with Homebase. It's hard to pin down when it will happen. But there are times a video plays back quickly and flawlessly. Other times it's hung up, trying to play back the video.

Yeah I was kinda just thinking from from an unscientific POV if you got less delays after upgrading. I also hardwire my bell even though it has a batter AND hardwire my Homebase in my office/sever room. That room is in the front of the house and very close to the doorbell as well. You're right about there being too almany variables at play, so again, was just was asking from a subjective POV. I'm of the mind of getting rid of my Eufy cams, etc. altogether since even the HB3 with an SSD still leaves much to be desired when trying to see who came to the door, driveway, etc. a lot of the time. Way better than the Homebase 2, but still kinda sucks.

I just got this a few weeks ago. The wifi is terrible, its 2.4ghz band but subjected to interference easily esp if you use a mesh network. I tried everything to isolate my other devices and installing it on a strictly 2.4 ghz network and still the connection is choppy on and off throughout the day. I assume they intend for you to use their homebase which would have its own 2.4 ghz connection to the device. Now im out of the return window.

I have this model. I love it. Package detection and package pick up are excellent. pop-up thumbnail notifications showing people are solid. No cloud storage garbage or subscriptions.

Highly recommend.

Use a wifi scanner, just pick some good app for your phone. Android has great free apps I can share. See what kind of collisions are out there for channels, and try to pick a channel on your router that is not in use. I just happened to look and I found a lot of crowding at the default channel 7. I just switched my router to channel 11 and now the camera takes 1-5 seconds to start streaming to my phone.

It's sad we have to manage 2.4 channels but almost all iot uses it for range and support

I did, I use the app Wifiman. I jumped from 1, 6, and 11, the bands with the least interferences. None of them made any significant improvements. It weird because the Nest doorbell cam I replaced didn't have an issue like this. So I blame Eufy for bad coding or hardware.

Does the 340 come with a wedge base for angle viewing?

This is what I liked about it the most

Battery or Wired, Your Choice: Battery mode makes installation easy. Keep a spare quick-release battery for quick swaps and avoiding downtime due to charging. Wired mode is also powered by the battery, which is topped up by the wired power source for long-lasting performance. Note: Wired mode requires the battery to be installed and a power source power should be connected with 16 to 24V and >10VA.

So wired when power, but if you lose power it should continue on battery and record locally
