Purchased one. Just hope it holds up. My existing backpack is 25 years old and been amazing. I want another 25 year backpack.

Is your existing one a SwissGear?

Is this spacious enough to hold stuff for weekend travel? Like could I fit a couple pairs of clothes and other essentials, and survive with just the one bag's worth of stuff?

I have a Thule backpack that looks way overfilled with just a few items, I think just because of the amount of pockets and padding. Whereas, I have some random backpack with 0 padding, but can hold a ton of stuff without really looking very big

SwissGear is supposed to make great back backs.
I'm kind of overwhelmed because there are so many different backpacks out there.
I'm going back to grad school this fall so want one mainly for that, but would also work as a carryon for a few trips a year.

They are good backpack but they do weigh more compared to most backpack as another poster mentioned. Don't recommend for school unless you don't mind the extra weigh. I would say it's comparable to other backpack with a textbook already in there.

Yes it is spacious enough, but I would not purchase it with that use case in mind. There have to be better options. I have had this backpack for 1.5 years and love it. Perfect for work with a laptop and lunch box. I did take it on a Europe trip last summer and it was fine, but I wasn't using it as a primary suitcase. The shoe/dirty clothes section is nice. It can be clipped collapsed when not in use to give you more space in the middle section.

This or the pro? Don't need a dedicated shoe pocket

Swissgear is the standard field backpack. I've seen it in my controls tech days, and now in my field tech days. I would trust this backpack. Surely would work as a carryon, as well. Although I use a larger Nike Utility Elite for carryon

How would you compare with this other Swiss gear backpack?
