What's the color supposed to be for? They all look the same grey color. Except the white.

Don't buy this one. Bought it the last time it was FP and I couldn't return it as it was just past the return window. Besides the terrible lag, if you get a call when you're playing music and you go back to play music, it cuts out like crazy and is in-audible. It doesn't get fixed until you disconnect and reconnect the unit.

I'd get this if I didn't just buy a CarLinKit Ultra for myself. With the Ultra, after ~10 trips only had to reset that 1 time. I've also tested the CarLinKit 5 for a few years (probably 99% connection there) and before I got the ultra I looked for the cheapest unit with decent reviews, some type of Ottocast. The otto had maybe 40% connection after probably 20 trips, 30% of the time if I unplugged and plugged it in it'd work, and 30% just wouldn't connect. Every one I tested had a bit of an audio delay to it for music control, probably ~2 seconds to skip to the next song. So you cannot skip songs repeatedly until you get a song you like. These initially connect via bluetooth and I believe use wifi for extra data, so they will kill your battery quickly and are best for quick trips. Otherwise they worked pretty flawlessly.

Reviews look pretty solid on this unit and you have amazon returns if the connection quality isn't suiting you. The guy above seemed to not like this :p. Only possible con I see is if the connection to the unit itself gets damaged you are out the unit, so if you can store it somewhere in your car where it won't get pushed it should be good. Just know the MSRP on this is a joke, this is probably a $20-30 thing, I've seen the carlinkit 5 hit mid $30s on here.

The big difference/advantage Carlinkit has, is you can reduce the delay down to 300ms (in the settings), while all others I tried don't give you options like that. For $17, you're not out a lot.

Will this play video on the dash unit? I'm hoping to find something that'll do that while I'm charging the car.
