And no, adding natural ingredients like sugar and palm oil doesn't make the peanut butter any less natural.
Here's an example of pure grounded peanuts without a stabilizer. Note the layer of oil on top. You have to stir that oil back into the paste everytime you want to use the peanut butter. And it's not easy since the paste is thick.

Everytime peanut butter appears, you'll have people claiming that it's not "real" peanut butter because it has sugar. And they say the same if it has stabilizers like palm oil or hydrogenated oils. Here are the facts:
Real authentic peanut butter has sugar. It has had sugar since peanut butter was created in the 19th century and certainly when it was patented in 1885. That's because it was considered a confection. Here is Edson's 1885 patent. All authorities consider his patent as the invention of modern peanut butter. Sugar is mentioned repeatedly.

As such, it is sugarless peanut butter that's not "real" or authentic. Indeed, sugarless peanut butter was only a thing in the 80s, when diabetes was growing and people had more interest in diet and exercise. It's also when you saw a flurry of new sugar substitutes.
People who claim that sugary peanut butter is fake are confusing it with peanut paste. It is pure ground peanuts, sometimes with salt. It's used in Asian and African cooking.

Here you go. Just grounded peanuts with no additives. They even subtitled it "peanut butter" for confused Americans. See that layer of oil on top? That leads us to the next lesson...

...As for hydrogenated oils, that's been in peanut butter since the 1920s. People simply didn't want to stir their peanut butter for 30 secs everytime they used it. And it was in virtually all commercial peanut butters until the last few decades, when trans fats were deemed harmful. After all, why would they remove something for no reason that consumers found convenient since the 1920s? Of note, current hydrogenation methods produce no more trans fats than what's naturally in beef and other meats. That's why peanut butter with hydrogenated oils can say "0 grams trans fat." Palm oil is a natural alternative to hydrogenated oil because it's one of the few vegetable oils that's solid at room temperature.
In summary: Real authentic peanut butter had sugar. Sugarless peanut butter is an inauthentic relatively recent invention. And one can even argue that old fashion peanut butter has both sugar and hydrogenated oils. Those who want just peanuts are actually describing peanut paste.
