About this item:
- MOST CONNECTED: Caseta connects with more leading smart home devices - including Alexa, Apple Home, the Google Assistant, Ring, Serena shades and Sonos - than any other smart light switch brand (Lutron Smart Hub, L-BDG2-WH, required)
- CONTROL YOUR WAY: Caseta puts the smarts in the switch so you can control your lights a variety of ways - via the free Lutron app, with your voice, or from the wall. Create schedules in the app or activate scenes with a button (Lutron Smart Hub, L-BDG2-WH, required)
- EASY 3-WAY SETUP: Create a 3-way by mounting a Pico remote to any wall surface - no cutting holes or pulling wire, with a wall mount bracket (PICO-WBX-ADAPT sold separately). Replace existing 3-way switches by mounting the bracket and Pico over the backbox
- GET MORE, SPEND LESS: One Caseta smart switch can control many bulbs at once; make many bulbs smart, even your existing bulbs. Get smart control of multiple styles of dimmable LED, incandescent, and halogen bulbs (Lutron Smart Hub, L-BDG2-WH, required)
- EASY AND PRECISE DIMMING: The soft-glow light bar and slider provide easy and precise control from the wall; preset allows you to turn your lights on to your preferred predetermined level
- WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL: For added convenience, use with wireless Pico remote (PJ2-3BRL-GWH-L01) to turn your lights on, off, or dim and brighten with the touch of a button from anywhere in the home
- PEACE OF MIND: Always come back to a well-lit home with Caséta; enable the smart away feature to randomly turn your lights on and off to look like you're home even if you're away (Lutron Smart Hub, L-BDG2-WH, required)
- WORKS IN ANY HOME: Unlike other smart dimmer switches, Caseta works in any home, of any age, as it does not require a neutral wire
- TECHNICAL DETAILS: Works with up to 150W dimmable LED light bulbs or 600W incandescent bulbs/halogen bulbs; not rated for low voltage applications (i. e. track or landscape lighting)
- Includes (1) Diva smart dimmer switch for Caseta smart lighting and (1) coordinating Claro wallplate

Can add multi-way switching to single switched devices using Pico paddle remotes, which can be wall mounted anywhere without a back box
Hub not required if your just want to pair Pico remote(s) to the wired switch
Pico remotes can be used to control other manufacturer's devices if you use Home Assistant (I use one to control a roomful of floor and table lamps plugged in to ThirdReality Zigbee smart plugs)
Proprietary "Clear Connect" wireless connectivity doesn't require a WiFi connection.
I have a number of Kasa switches in the house as well, and agree that the Lutron Divas don't command a price premium if you're not leveraging the remotes or have a neutral available - I use the Kasas (dimmers, 3 way dimmers, 3/4 way on/offs, and single on/offs) wherever I have neutrals available.
I use the Lutrons to add 3 way switching at the top and bottom of stairs to upstairs/downstairs hallway lighting in a 60+ YO house. I also use them to add wired/wireless control to 'dumb" bedroom AC paddle fans with light kits - the lights/fans can be controlled at the doorway wired Lutron switches, or from the Pico remotes on pedestals located on bedside night stands.
This isn't a particularly good deal IMO, as it doesn't include a face plate or a Pico paddle remote; as another poster pointed out, I go to eBay to pick these up NIB from private sellers, usually paying ~$45.
EDIT: This one does include a face plate.
Also get them on eBay for almost half price
As already said, their system "just works" and for those who don't want to deal with the potential hassle of troubleshooting involving their home wi-fi network, internet connection, etc., just so their lights can turn on/off at specific times -- it's worth the higher cost.
Lutron's system does need a hub, which runs on their own wireless network. The details behind it can be found in a white paper they published about how they designed it, and the reasoning behind their choices.
And if/when the internet connection goes down, or the brand that makes a gazillion other products decides to exit the IoT market and shuts down their servers, those products will likely turn into bricks.
Lutron's system uses an internet connection to establish an NTP reference -- to set the system clock -- but will run disconnected.
They started as a lighting controls company in the early 60s, and that's their focus. Not routers and hubs, cams, etc., or selling them, like Best Buy, whose own attempt to establish an IoT platform is but a memory.
This is a manufacturer's promo, so aside from Amazon, HD, Lowes, Ace, and other retailers are also participating in lowering prices until the 11th.
Beware, though, for whatever reason, HD is charging $10 more than everyone else for something like the Diva+ Smart Switch. Others are selling it for $60, and the Amazon item includes the wall plate, so it's the best value.
