Been waiting a while, finally pulling the trigger on the PETG Glow In The Dark for my planters, should be really nice on the porch at night.

As someone who just bought their first 3d printer (Bambu P1S), how much and what material type(s) should I buy? How much filament should I keep on hand? Is there a typical set of colors most people keep around?

Buy a few rolls of PLA and a roll of PETG. Get the grasp of PLA, then try PETG. They both have their own use cases. Once you've gotten the hang both, you can move on to more advanced stuff if you'd like. Remember to always run tests like dry your filament before you use it and do tests like temperature towers and volumetric flow rate when you buy a new brand.

I wouldn't buy more than 3 rolls at once. It's hard to gauge what I wanted to print when I first started so I ended up taking forever to use up my initial rolls (the fact that they were red and gold didn't help). I would start with PLA and in common colors like black, white, and gray. Then migrate to different more niche colors and materials when you want some projects printed in those colors or with those material properties.

It's like buying ink for your normal printer, except you have to buy a gallon at once and it comes out just that color.

It's a great deal. I have been using the Sunlu PLA and PLA+. It has been printing pretty consistently and reliable. If you sign up as new customer (or use different email) you can get 5% discount on entire order.

Just returned a pack of their PLA 1.75 because it wouldn't print well for my son's Toybox 3D printer. Not user error, other filament continued to work well.

I've ordered direct from them a few times and it was always shipped from US and arrived in just a few days.I have an A1M and almost exclusively use their PLA+2.0 and I get nothing but great prints!
I have A1 w/ams lite so is it this one? https://www.sunlu.com/products/mo...nt-1kgAlso, does the spool needs to be swapped to bamboo one?

Sunlu PLA is pretty good but their shipping and packaging is atrocious. They just wrapped the spools loose in plastic packaging and slapped a label in the two orders ive made with them through their site. The boxes were crushed during transit but luckily the spools were fine.

As someone new, get this kingroon pla or petg multicolor 10pack. You can get something of these sunlu for the non-standard colors like wood, sky blue, lavender, etc if you need them.

These are cheap and print well. They also dont break the bank so you can print things without worrying to much about wasting filament in your testing phase.

These ship from US, so shipping is quick.

Thanks, I am moving away from PLA into PETG. I have better luck living in the desert area.

Your link was a bit out of wack, but it looks like you were trying to link the correct one-

https://www.sunlu.com/products/mo...lament-1kg

Unfortunately most of the colors sold out overnight, but there is still Black and White.

I have like 12 or 13 spools in various colors. This time I ordered the new Cyan, Roasted Chestnut, Lavender, and got another spool of Olive Green since I'm almost finished with my second roll of it.

Unfortunately, I do not have an AMS but I have heard the newest spool design from Sunlu was designed to be compatible with the AMS lite, but I've also heard that its not a perfect fit and they can still end up falling off. There might be an adapter though to help with that.
