Looks like a good deal, but does anyone know if the carry-on actually meets most airline size limits? Sometimes these sets call it "carry-on" but it's too big for stricter airlines or international flights. Would hate to get hit with a surprise gate check.

Seems to be a lot more deals from woot (and even better deals) in this thread https://dealquestnow.online/f/18407548-3-piece-rockland-melbourne-hardside-expandable-luggage-w-spinner-wheels-blue-98-99-2-piece-travel-select-amsterdam-expandable-luggage-25-99-more-free-shipping-w-prime

Woot [woot.com] has Select 2-Piece & 3-Piece Luggage on sale as listed below. Shipping is free w/ Prime. Otherwise shipping is $6.

Is this durable enough compared to hardshell luggage? I mean, is the trade-off in weight worth it?

I prefer softside to hard side. It won't break or get super scratched and become trash. You can also stuff more into it. I don't get this trend with hard side luggage. Trends are so cyclical. I remember having hardside luggage in the 80s and 90s πŸ˜‚

I'd recommend a better brand, perhaps at tj maxx. I've found excellent durable luggage there. So many brands wear out, handles don't open easily, zippers break.

Top critical review says it's 23" and too high for United

Many brands don't count the wheels. Airlines do count them. Easy way to spot over the limit bags is volume: compliant carry ons are no more than 40L (2441 cubic inches).

I completely agre. Hardside are so inconvenient to use when opened.
