I've read waterproof shoes often are worse vs the regular version. How does this one compare vs the regular Pegasus Trail 5?

I had the previous gore tex models and they were fine and the 3 regular trail and I still use those to walk around.

This version made my feet hurt and I tried them for about 3 weeks and are the first shoes I have ever returned. I don't know what changed but my feet couldn't handle them.

Fine as long as you remember that its virtually impossible to keep water out 😀

As long as you don't step in any puddles deeper than ankle length or have any water splashing onto your legs that could get into your shoes or your pants get soaked and theres nowhere else for the extra water to go.

Its my own belief that Gore Tex running shoes are truly only really only good for running in packed snow or with a pair of truly waterproof waiters and/or pants along wjth them...and don't dare wear them in the summer or your feet will be soaked from. Sweat because they don't breath worth a crap. No pair of expensive socks is going to save you from that.

Wow, I had the same exact experience. Loved the 3's, 4 gore-tex, and even 5 regulars. Thought the 5 gore-tex would be the pinnacle, but they hurt my feet so bad I had to return them. Still love the non-gore-Tex 5's though.

I see a good amount of this shoe and colorway at the local Nike Clearance Store.

Maybe its the white? Maybe its they massively overproduce shoes and still make good money when people buy them on clearance? Maybe its the fit?

The $70 price is a good one. Even at the clearance stoe they are $70 to $80.

I'm sure these are fine shoes and all, but…isn't white a tremendously impractical color for legit trail runners? These are going to be brownish gray after about the third run.

I saw those in factory store too.
The opening's shape looks a bit weird - not quite holding its shape, not sock-like either. More like a loose sleeve from jacket.

For me, it was the overall fit of the Gore Tex version as to why I didn't buy the...I have the Peg Trail 4 on both the regular and GT version and it was the same shoe. Same fit.
I bought the 5s regular version and then tried on a pair of the Gore Tex version. Same size. The sizing felt a half size small The width felt different. The upper fit on the top of the foot was tight. I thought "maybe i need to size up?" That was horrible. It was like I was swimming in them.
Knowing that these shoes are often times made in different plants and that can cause issues with fit (it shouldn't you would think, but it does), i waited a few months and when traveling tried again. Same exact assessment.
That being said the regular version of the 4s and 5s are awesome. Great for running on lighter trails and road to trail. Great for casual wear. Great for travel.

Plenty of us trail runners ike this colorway for this very reason. The dirt and grime tells stories....

I have an older version of these gortex trail runners. They work great as lightweight hiking shoes. I stopped using my traditional hiking shoes since getting them.

I also wear them to work when there's heavy rain in the forecast. It's waterproof 70% of the way up to the ankle cuff.
