Wow they're just giving these things away now huh? This is the lowest price for an M4 Macbook to ever exist. If you're a veteran who's been waiting, now is the time to pull the trigger. Incredible deal.
It's already a good price at $849+tax at Costco.
$699 with no tax is an absolute no-brainer.

With how cheap M4 MBAs and Mac Minis are there really is no good reason for a Windows PC anymore outside of gaming.

A PS5 + a M4 MBA is a better route than an overpriced Windows PC that will lose 80% of its value after a couple years.

That's a bit of a stretch... yes the value for money is great here, but a lot of people use software they simply doesn't run well on the Apple ARM chips, or on OSX at all.
I own both a macbook air, Mac Mini, and a windows desktop (not for gaming), pros and cons my friend...

Yes 14 days. I just hit 15 😭
Ask them anyway. Worth a shot. I had them give me a price match as a courtesy for a very similar situation.

Just got the blue one…free shipping, no tax, donated $5 to Army fund, total $704 to door. Edit: Called them and applied WELCOME10 for 10% off new total = $634.10

I don't even see an option to enter the code. It only has gift card option. Are you using Military Star card?

Was that the 10% off for your first purchase using the card? It used to be 15%, but I think that changes here and there. Great deal!

At the very top of the screen, underneath order summary, there's a blue link that asks if you have a promo code. Typically only valid for new applications of the card, but sometimes they have offers throughout the year.

No it's my first order and used promo WELCOME10, and during checkout it shows up

Respectfully, not really a stretch at all for many folks. I came from all the way back to DOS/Windows side. Due to Microsoft sending our otherwise perfectly good and fast, but older than 3-5 years, Windows 10 PCs and laptops to the landfill (ironically ungreen like) with Windows 11, we are transitioning mostly to MacOS. Unlike with the Windows 10 transition, Microsoft shilled out to DELL, Lenovo and HP whose sales of hardware had slowed due to mature PC tech.

Microsoft gave up what had been a key advantage for it - hardware longevity. And Microsoft threw in with Google/Android for phones.

The MacOS transition has been very friendly, particularly since, like many folks we were already in the Apple mobile world with iPhones and iPads. The seamless integration across devices is a wonderful thing. Texts, copying/pasting, starting a webpage and moving to another device all work great across all Apple devices. Likewise, a seamless and full backup of all devices to one place. Easy restore, even including recent call history. We don't mind paying a little more - not so much more with deals like this one premium.

We'll keep a Windows 11 PC around. Pro-tip: buy an off-lease Optiplex or Latitude business grade PC/laptop from Dell Financial Services during one of their 40-50% off promos. (Sign up for their emails). Paid $257 (before tax) for a perfect condition 3-1/2 year old Latitude 7420 that cost $1800+ new.

Edit: I should add, with most stuff in the cloud, it seems fewer and fewer folks are running specialized local programs, so Windows compatibility becomes less important. Look at the popularly of Chromebooks.

Does anyone know how eligibility works?

I read through the section on the website and it got more involved than what I understand with different categories of veterans.

My father served in the Air Force in the 70s as a doctor. Honorably discharged and everything… So is he eligible?

Exchange patrons are prohibited from the following: (1) Making (or purchasing for the purpose of making) a sale, exchange, transfer, or other disposition of exchange merchandise or services to unauthorized patrons (customary gifts of a personal nature are permissible)..
"Customary gifts of a personal nature" would seem to be operative there, no?

Not if you bought it for someone you didn't know from a forum site that aggregates deals.

Contact them. Don't come to SD for info like this 😂

Yes, he is eligible. If they are unable to authenticate him, emailing in copies of discharge paperwork would likely suffice.
