Nobody said otherwise. But making a cheap Quartz model and charging $3500 for it is nothing more than a moneygrab to trade off of their well known brand name. Breitling is ruining their brand to sell a few low end overpriced watches. It's what happens when companies sell out to huge conglomerates that are just looking to maximize profits and have no allegiance to the actual value of the brand.

Leon Breitling may have started this brand in 1884, but "Partners Group" owns it now, which began in 1996. They are a private equity firm who's expertise lies in buying and selling companies and maximizing profits, not watchmaking. If they thought there was money in making Timex-style watches with a Breitling badge on it, they'd do it.

You should never buy a watch based on a 150 year old brand name if it's been bought/sold from the original ownership. Research the ACTUAL watch and make sure it's something you want and that has value.

Omega is a much more prestigious company than Breitling, yet only charges a few hundred dollars for their Quartz Moon Watches. Over $3,000 for a quartz composite watch with a rubber band is insanity.

Which one are you talking about? The yellow Endurance Pro Chronograph is $1895 after the coupon.

They were nice enough to throw a saphire lens in the mix so you don't feel like you were totally ripped off...

No, in general, unless it's a sought after, low production model, watches aren't going to appreciate in value. Usually those types of watches aren't available to purchase at msrp unless you are a celebrity or high value customer anyway.

Some brands hold their value better than others, like Rolex, but Brietling isn't one of them.

That's because it is:

Breitling watches are very well known, have been around since 1884 and have been featured in James Bond movies.
