You can switch colors "manually" to do multi color print if colors are in different layers. If you use say PETG or TPU, you want to dry them for many hours before printing so having them dried ahead of time is good
Drier In general is important if you have humidity problems
If you are getting a printer say Bambu with AMS Pro, it has drier built in now too.
