I'm not sure why the other recent thread was closed as expired since this deal is supposed to go through the 29th.

Flashforge 3D Printer via eBay [ebay.com] has Flashforge Adventurer 5M High-Speed 600 mm/s Auto Leveling WiFi 3D Printer on sale for $259 - 15% off when you apply promo code THINGSYOULOVE at checkout = $220.15. Shipping is free.

This was front page just a few weeks back at a higher price, same ebay store.

The FF 5M is a fast, core XY printer:
* 600mm/s and 20000mm/s² printing speeds (basically this is one of the fastest consumer printers)
*220x220x220 mm build volume (basically the same as the typical Ender 3 and other non-helmet sized printers)
*Runs klipper with vibration compensation
*Prints from network or via USB
*Full auto leveling and Z-axis - this is very much one of the modern "it just works" printers.
*Open frame. FF offers a kit + 3D print files to print an enclosure

I absolutely do not need another 3D printer, but it's taking all my self control not to jump on this.

Dang, i got an old, stock ender-3 with a loud 8-bit board for free and was looking into upgrading its components, but it's tempting to just sell it and grab this instead…

i see the AD5X (4 color printer) is on flash forge's website for 399 and both appear to be the same size - are they the same printer with/without the multicolor ability?

if so; for a first 3d printer i'd really really recommend a multicolor - when i bought my first (bambu a1 mini without ams) it was really annoying that the add-on to print multicolors was almost as much as the machine itself. after a few months i bought a whole new printer because single color objects didn't cut it anymore. i don't want to paint everyday items - and multicolor prints waste filament during color swaps - but i will never buy another single color machine as my primary

if you want only single color ever - this looks AWESOME

edit: i KNOW 220 vs 400 isn't apples to apples - i just don't want anyone else to do what i did - find out too late that it's waaay cheaper to buy a multicolor combo than to add multicolor capability later.

The multi-color version is on sale for $370 after some process

I'm not sure what to think about the 5X. There is a youtuber who has been one of the big reviews, followers of the 5M. He felt like the 5X hardware was good but was not happy with the software. The nice thing with the 5M is you can use straight up Orca slicer with it. You don't have to use FF's slicer or a FF version of Orca. It sounds like that isn't true with the 5X.

If I was looking at the 5X I might wait to see what more reviewers say. With the 5M, well I've had mine for a year and I've been very happy with it.

with the 5M, even if normal Orca works, you can't just flash an official klipper build with a supported printer.cfg file right? we need to use the relatively unmaintained fork by flashforge?

No idea. I've used the stock firmware and Orca files. Subs my printer is near the computer I transfer files with a USB stick. I don't have my printer networked. Btw, I like that it stores the prints in internal memory. Once the print starts you can remove the USB. You can also review and reprint files from the printer's memory.

I went ahead and bit on it. Had a 50 credit and they had a deal of 10 percent off an eBay gift card of 180 for 200.
I am going to try to enclose it too. Anyone have experience with that task?
