Rare sale on the newer hydraulic impact drill, significantly quieter and much more pleasant to use.

Have one of these already and it's been awesome to use.

It's a shopify store so you can pair with shop credit, and should be free shipping as it's over $150.

Agreeing with OP that this doesn't go on sale very much...yet, but I fear that is just due to DeWalt closing out older models and we might start seeing bundle/deals with this one soon (I hope?) Anyhow, this doesn't go on sale as stated very much so if you have been waiting.

Fasteners Inc is probably the only place I've seen this tool on sale, but I wouldn't say it's that infrequent. When the tool was first released they had it on sale about once a month for the first five months. That being said, they haven't offered it on sale for the last three months so perhaps deals are getting sparser. The current deal (10% off) is decent enough if you need one now (and I have had zero issues with Fasteners Inc across many orders). However, if there is no urgency, personally I would hold out for a better deal.

Fasteners previous deals:
Nov 15, 2024: $169
Nov 25, 2024: $149
Jan 8, 2025: $179
Feb 18, 2025: $169
Mar 15, 2025: $154

This is so good, I returned my Milwaukee M18 Fuel Surge after using it. The only impact I use more is the Milwaukee M12 Fuel Surge, while the M18 was a disappointment, the M12 is awesome. It is very close though, if I was only in the Dewalt system, then the 870 is a no-brainer.

Question for the ages: do we expect it'll drop an extra $30 at Black Friday like last year (according to poster above showing price history)?

I'm not in a hurry for this one but would love something quieter than my other impacts

Honestly, with the tariffs I've only seen price increases across the board for all tools, made in the US or not (probably the global materials part is causing problems).

If you need it now it's a solid price, but every prior sale has been before "Liberation Day" (April 2nd) tariffs so do what you will with that info.

With things potentially likely going off with Iran, I think things trend more, not less expensive.

dewalt sells some ancient tools. no one should fear older models getting phased out because it genuinely doesnt happen often.

With the FB Marketplace resellers, you find it for $120, with some luck at $100.

Feathering this thing on speed 1 is the most fun thing ever. Best impact driver for smaller fasteners imo.

Never knew a "hydraulic" impact existed. Thought my current impact driver was top of the line for driving screws.

Not sure why you and the OP are calling this a drill as DeWalt calls it a quiet Hydraulic Impact Driver. Excellent tool but I would not use it for drilling, which by the way will be unnecessary to drive most any screw home w/o a pilot hole.

Hydraulics are not the clear-cut top of the line impact. They are quieter and more comfortable, but don't have the torque of a top non-hydraulic impact driver. That being said, this one closes the gap on performance considerably. In fact, in some tests, this impact is comparable to the DCF860, particularly for smaller fasteners.

One word of caution when you read the specs, you may be shocked at the maximum torque ratings of hydraulic impacts. This one is 500 in-lbs vs the DCF860 (non-hydraulic) at 2500 in-lbs. Yes, the maximum torque of the DCF860 is five times higher. The way a hydraulic impact driver works is to buffer the impact with the hydraulic fluid (oil), which reduces the peak impact. However, this buffering sustains the time of each impact, so you end up with less torque but for a longer impact. For that reason, taking the peak torque ratings at face value can be deceptive and real-world testing is the best way to assess the true utility of the tool.

Homedepot base price was 199 prior to tarrif, it is now 219. Got to love that 10% base tarrif.
