Isn't this the same one that was like $1700 last year?
Thanks Trump.
EDIT: Not sure this was ever that low, but it was being cleared out off-season for much cheaper. YMMV. And that was then and this is now.

Quick search, looks like the old model was at the same $2500 price tag

You are almost right, last year my friend bought it for $1799. So about the point — you are right: 700 more with current situation.

Folks for around the same price or less consider the Yamaha Moto e-mountain bike.

Agree with the tariff comments, WTF.

Moro... got one last year for the wife, just under $2k with an extra battery.

Lovely bike for the $$$, bit heavy, but very nice. I would consider buying a second one if the kids ever graduate to e-bike.

Even with an ebike you can get a great workout, it actually gets you out more

It was $1800 like 1.5 years ago for the older model of this when they were clearing it out. That one had component differences (different suspension and brakes), and also I think this version of the frame might be UDH compatible, although I'm not 100% on that.

It's a good bike but if only getting into MTB I would suggest used aluminum frame hardtail from a big brand like Trek, Giant or Specialized. If you do get into it it's easy to sell for about the same and move into something else. IMHO while carbon is nice and a bit lighter it is not worth it for added cost and maintenance but if you compete every lb counts.

A large % of professional athletes incorporate eMTBs into their training, for similar reasons they would use road bikes: MTB trails often push you past zone 2 or even zone 3, which can be unproductive - according to a wealth of reasearch. eMTBs - just like riding roads on your road bike or gravel etc, allow you to put in miles without pushing your limits going uphill. The eMTB adds the option of doing repetitive DH runs on trails, which you wouldn't get on the milder road or gravel rides, and doing so "fresh-er".

Plus, you can really go all-out on a eMTB still, nothing stops you. Will probably stop you from super-peaking out for HIIT, but you can definately push your HR hard.

You can ride it as a cheater bike, you can ride it for fun/super casually, you can just ride it because you are seriously oveweight and would never make it up some hills w/o it. These people would never compete with a zippy carbon XC bike like the OP, so, comparison is moot.

Riding bikes is fun, it is healthier than not riding them, and this of course includes eMTBs, which are not a menace on the trails and are nowhere as dangerous for other users of trails like eMotos/Surrons are, who try to squeeze their way into trails - threatening access for all 2-wheelers lately.

You get exercise on an e-bike, you just can go farther, faster and hills are much easier.

These are nice bikes, I own the Trail version. I upgraded everything on mine to make it what I wanted. Wheels, tires, bars, seat post, brakes, etc. These prices are OK, but not great. You are getting cheap components on a nice frame.
The real deal here is the Costco return policy. If you aren't happy, you can take it back, even if you ride it for 2 months. I found the group set to be cheap but worked pretty well. I didn't like the brakes. The tires were too light for heavy trail riding.
