Correct; I was just trying to supply the dimensions to give an idea of the size relative to the personal item limits, which this backpack is pretty close to. Why buy a 14x8x4 if your goal is to stuff as much as you can into the personal item & save the carry-on fee

It's not hard plastic, it can be deformed to fit personal item limits
