Now, before anyone starts with microplastics and wishes to use all glass containers, you should begin with plastic 101, such as the definition of plastic, how plastic works, the categories of numbers on plastic, and the science behind plastic.

Edit: English is my second or third language. I did research and believe in science, not conspiracy. I'm just tired of arguing with someone who thinks they know "better" and tells others to learn more

All plastics are evil and poison. I saw it on oprah's book club, read so on several astrology forums, and heard it at yoga with baby goats. It's true.

Just like man made climate change and the Earth isn't the center of the universe. All fake news.

Plastics are made from oil. Would you drink and/or eat oil?

Man has never heard of glass or reusing plastic. Why be intentionally dense?

Yeah, I don't really use storage containers anymore. It's just more convenient and economical -- and sanitary -- to use zipper bags, especially ones I bought on sale. This is especially true of greasy raw meats, especially chicken. And no more trying to get rid of fishy smells on plastic. Or risk breaking glass, which I've done several times. Being frugal, I actually rinse and reuse bags that have stored fruit, rice, cookies, etc. Once a bag becomes too dirty to reuse, I use it to store compostables for the city's compost bins (as required by NYC law).

The 3-5¢ I pay for each bag is definitely less than the cost of water, detergent, energy and time it takes to clean dirty storage containers. Not to mention the fact that it's nearly impossible to clean and sanitize all the crevices by hand. And bags take up less space in the fridge and freezer since it molds to the contents.

Not exactly ecological or economical when you consider the hot water, detergent, energy and time to clean them by hand. Not to mention that disposable bags are more sanitary, odorless, take up less space and usually don't break when dropped.
