80V platform has been awesome for a few years now. Great power, great battery life.
It was pushed hard at Lowe's when I was looking a decade ago (blowers, trimmers pole saw, chainsaw, snowblower etc.) with a lot of in store space. Then it disappeared from stores and was an online only thing.
I know there was some QC issues with the batteries and I heard something about maybe a lawsuit from GreenWorks.
Is it back to being carried regularly in stores?
The other option is Dewalt 20V stuff that I can share batteries with my power tools, but I know it's comparing apples to oranges at 80V.

I heard (on Reddit I believe) that it had to do with Lowes and Ego reaching an agreement for Ego in store. Once Lowes started carrying Ego they pushed Kobalt 80v to online only.

The mower is amazing. My dad even used it last night. He's impressed with our yard (and somebody who walks the subdivision says we have the nicest looking yard of all of the homes -- there are about 300). He was blown away by how much power it has yet how quiet it is... and how it can cut through our very dense yard. I'm actually getting better battery performance now than when I first got it ... in that if I mowed, I'd sometimes use the entire battery. Now, I can mow, trim, and blow the yard and still have three of the four power indicators still lit.
I recommend keeping the battery in a climate controlled environment (as opposed to the garage). This will extend the life of it.
The blower is REALLY powerful. As someone else noted, sometimes it is hard for the trimmer to feed additional line, but it otherwise works well and I love having everything in one ecosystem.

It's easy to reload. I got this one 3yrs ago for the wife. She hated my stihl but loves this one. She was out weedwacking the day before giving birth. I love it too. It does a great job. Might get a second one.
Thanks for convincing me. It looks like this item is only shipped, not local. It would've been a nice Father's Day gift to wrap up for the weekend
My process is cut like 6 feet of line. Line up the notches on the head and feed the line through into the head on one side until it comes out the other side. I guess it can get caught here if the head is dirty or the little notches are lined up, but with a wiggle or two it should come through the other end. Pull it till its equal lengths on both sides coming out of both holes. Then turn the head a bunch of times until it retracts the 6 feet of line and has about 6 inches coming out of both holes. Ready to go!

The trimmer is alright. Loading isn't as easy as a speed feed but once you get it down it's not too bad.
That said - this trimmer CAN NOT ACCEPT OTHER TOOL HEADS.
Where most trimmers have the square drive rod(?) that you can install things like edger heads, hedge trimmers, etc., this one can't.
I sold mine and bought the standalone one (black body instead of blue) to use hedge trimmer and edger attachments.
That said, I have had the mower + blower + trimmer (in one flavor or the other) for about 5 years now.
I've expanded quite a bit with the chainsaw, standalone edger, pole saw (Greenworks), and Greewnworks backpack blower.
If anybody has any questions let me know!
As an aside - the Greenworks 80v batteries and tools have identical connections. The only difference is the guide grooves on the side of the battery housing.
You can use a trim/palm router with an edge guide to expand the grooves 2-3mm on both brands batteries and that will make each battery able to be used in each tool/charger. Been running 2 GW batteries and 3 Kobalt batteries in 5+ Kobalt tools and 2 Greenworks tools for about 2 years now with no issues.
It will likely void your warranty BUT - I had to warranty a battery that died within about a year and they didn't require it to be sent back. Literally just required the receipt and sent me a new one without looking at/asking for the other battery. They told me to recycle it.
