I tried Harold the Halibut on Steam, and was looking forward to it very much before it launched (I thought it had Wes Anderson vibes before actually playing), but it ended up being a tedious chore to "play", I put at least 10 hours into it, didn't even finish it.

I had the opposite experience. Yes, it's more of a story than a game but I had such a good time.

I wish I could say the same, did you enjoy it the whole time, or did it improve alot after you made contact with the creature? (I got just past that part)

After you make contact, there isn't much story left.

You might as well finish it.

Shoot, it was on gamepass, and got pulled, wow, I thought I played it for a long time

Yeah, the story arc is kind of lopsided.

I haven't finished it either, because it does stay on trajectory with how quests are completed (aside from a few side quests, if I'm remembering correctly).
