280w power adapter to run a 5090 and Ultra 9 chipset? I know mobile chips are not 1:1 to the same named desktop versions but there's no way this thing isn't crippled by power limits or thermal throttling.

I bought the IPS 5080 version for $2079.99 and am very happy. I wish this had been available as I could have purchased the same specs with oled for $200 more. But the IPS is solid and does have a 240hz screen. So far my thermals have stayed under 95 Celsius at ultra settings so it seems I got a good paste job from the factory.

Correct on both accounts. The current Intel mobile processors are not good for thermal/power/ecore-pcore balancing for gaming related activities compared to current amd ryzens. current amd ryzens aren't going on discount unfortunately because they're selling and not being returned.

Current best mobile gpu (30-50%~ gimped compared to desktop depending on workload) paired with a mid and hot CPU relatively speaking, and a bad screen. There's a good reason this laptop is on discount.

So either a low resolution screen or a 60 Hz screen ?Man , both are terrible choices .As is the OLED option since it's glossy so will be unusable except if you work in the dark.
the ips option is not 60hz. confirmed with chat. there is no 60hz screen for omen - HP did bad job not giving clear info

It shouldn't have been something to be confused about to begin with. The specs clearly state 60-165Hz, meaning it's a range, i.e., the display can change the refresh rate according to what's on it. It's not rocket science.

You can even get the 5070ti plus oled option for 1575 if you choose 512gb ssd and the ultra 7. That's where the real deal is.
