This is such a good deal for 5.4.2 with Dirac and 2 independent sub outs.

Just buy the integra drx 3.4 that's constantly on sale for $570. Put the saving on speakers

I have the integra drx 3.4. Absolutely love it. However, there may be a few features with this Onkyo that makes it worth the extra price. Do the research, both are great choices!

I am personally debating between the two . Except independent sub out and the fact that rz30 is a newer model . What else is different ?

Don't you want a 7.4.2 for truly immersive surround sound? Not an audiphile. I was looking for a 11.2 or 11.4 receiver - but that pushes up to the $1500+ area.

I bought the RZ 50 for either 649 or 699 in the fall. Maybe a similar deal comes around maybe it doesn't but if you need more channels and power And don't need it now, there could be options. I actually bought a 7100 and switched to the RZ 50 for a few little features I didn't know I needed. I have speakers on my outside patio and I can drive both channels at the same time on the RZ 50 whereas I need an amplifier on the 7100. this is mostly irrelevant just saying keep an eye of features.

Just a FYI the sub outs are not independant on the RZ50 you have to step up to the RZ70 or down to the RZ30 for that feature if that matters to you. That is according to Audioholics website. Great price though.

Comparing the two, main difference is the RZ30 has independent sub outs, and you can upgrade Dirac live to bass control if you do need that. Other differences is the DRX 3.4 has 3 DACs, one for main, zone 2 and zone3 vs 2 DACs in the RZ30 one for main and one for zone 2/3. Also the Integra has more trigger and IR outputs if you use them for external amps or subs, it is kind of the point of the line to be customizable. Integra website also talks about handpicked parts, gold plated, and special circuity which might just be marketing BS and not mean much. Everything else including the power specs is the same. Unless you need to independent subs the Integra is probably the better buy at $200 less. I have a DRX 4, got it used for $100 4 years ago, and it has worked well for me, only been looking at the 3.4 since I want to try Dirac Live put haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I bought the Integra and no complaints so far. I figure I can always pick up a miniDSP HD down the road if I want to fine tune multiple subs. That's going to be a more flexible system anyway.

Actually you can do 11 with the RZ50 & 3800 for less than $1500.
If Dirac is high priority the 3800 will be adding Dirac's latest RC(ART) here very soon.
